This fellowship is designed to provide advanced training in clinical and translational research, focusing on the understanding and treatment of movement disorders such as Parkinson's disease, essential tremor, dystonia, and other related conditions. The successful candidate will work under the mentorship of leading experts in the field, contributing to innovative research projects aimed at improving patient care and advancing scientific knowledge in movement disorders. From a fiscal perspective, the indirect/overhead costs generated by clinical trials support the GUMC operating costs. Job description key points

The position is focused on both research and teaching. The candidates are expected to carry out research of excellent quality in the area of?Bioinformatics?and take responsibility for selected courses included in the?Bioinformatics bachelor study program?and the specialization “Computational Systems Biology” within the?Bioinformatics master study program. In particular, the candidates should be able to prepare and deliver lectures and tutorials at the bachelor as well as master level in the following areas:

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Research Assistant to join a highly collaborative project as part of the Nucleic Acid Therapy Accelerator Consortium to develop machine and deep learning approaches and maintain heterogenous data supporting drug discovery and development.

The candidate should have strong background in deep learning and/or biomedical image analysis algorithm development and interest to employ such techniques to advanced applications in biology, digital pathology and medicine development. The specific research project requires expertise in modern methods for image segmentation and classification of large imaging data using convolutional neural networks. Experience in web-based application development is desirable.

This post may appeal to candidates with background in computer science or engineering interested in now developing skills and experience in biomedical research. Candidates with good experience in machine learning, bioinformatics, database management, and visualisation techniques will also be considered.
