The School of Natural Sciences is looking to appoint a Level A (Associate Lecturer) Teaching and Research Academic in the field of Evolutionary and Developmental Biology. This is a 4-year fixed-term position (replacing staff on secondment) aimed at growing and strengthening research in these fields.

Key strengths of the School of Natural Sciences include access to a world class wildlife research facility, allowing for the use of Australian wildlife models for investigating key questions in evolutionary and developmental biology, as well as world class multi-omics, molecular biology, and tissue culture facilities in modern purpose-built research laboratories.

The successful applicant will also help to train the next generation of biological and biomedical scientists through undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervision, with ample opportunities to build their career as a balanced academic. The School is particularly interested in researchers with a capacity for and interest in teaching into the field of evolutionary medicine. Courses relevant to this position include the Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Medical Science.

The School of Natural Sciences at Macquarie University was established on 1 January 2022 through the amalgamation of the Departments of Biological Sciences, Molecular Sciences, and Earth and Environmental Sciences. 	A PhD in Evolutionary Biology or a closely related discipline in the biological sciences
	Demonstrated track record of research excellence in developmental and evolutionary biology as evidenced by high quality publications, awards, fellowships, and/or competitive grant funding
	Demonstrated capacity to use cutting edge techniques in developmental biology and genomics, such as single cell transcriptomics or pan-genomics
	Capacity to apply for and secure competitive research funding
	Developing a network of relationships with international collaborators
	Demonstrated track record or ability to teach genetics and evolutionary medicine, including laboratory-based practical classes, tutorials, and lecture delivery
	Excellent time management, written and oral communication skills, and collegiality
	Evidence of service and leadership, to your discipline, academia, and the wider community


Salary package: From $106,089 (Level A, Step 6) to $113,697 (Level A, Step 8) per annum, plus 17% employer superannuation. Appointment level will be determined based on successful candidate's experience and skills.

Your workplace:

As a Senior Lecturer, you will be employed in the field of programming languages. You will primarily organise and lead introductory and in-depth courses in the areas of programming as well as concepts and theoretical foundations of programming languages.

The position can also be filled on a part-time basis (20 hours/week).

The employment level of 40 hours/week includes an average teaching commitment of 14 semester hours per week of academic teaching, with an employment level of 20 hours/week an average of 7 semester hours per week of academic teaching.

Your future tasks:

You actively participate in scientific teaching, research & administration, which means:


	You will independently lead courses at Bachelor's and Master's level, develop them in line with the current state of research and coordinate their content with the other courses in the curricula.
	You will make an active contribution to the (further) development of course and examination formats, help to determine the requirements for the necessary technical infrastructure and coordinate these with the relevant bodies.
	We expect from you the ongoing reception of the current state of science as well as continuing didactic training.
	In addition, the assumption of administrative tasks, especially in the administration of teaching, is part of the job profile.

The Department of Portuguese of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities invites applications for the position of Full Professor of Portuguese Literature. The Department of Portuguese is an established and lively scholarly community. The Department offers an undergraduate degree in Portuguese Studies concentrating on Portuguese with selected courses in Language, Linguistics, Literature, Culture, History and Translation. At the undergraduate level, the Department also teaches Portuguese language within the Faculty of Law and offers elective courses in Portuguese as a foreign language to students from all faculties of the University. Remuneration

A taxable annual remuneration starting from MOP1,250,200 (approximately USD154,350) will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The faculty Bursar of the MU Faculty of Medicine announces a?selection procedure for the position of Postdoc in?The Biology of Primary Cilia Signaling?at the Department of Biology, MED MUNI

Description of the lab

Primary cilia are organelles with important functions in cellular signaling, morphogenesis and homeostasis. Mutations in genes that regulate cilia architecture or function result in disorders called ciliopathies. The ciliopathies comprise developmental syndromes, and also postnatal homeostatic disorders including cancer.?In the research lab of Dr. Michaela Bosakova?we focus on understanding the molecular mechanisms by which cilia are formed and used by protein kinases and signaling pathways (published work). Our ultimate goal is to comprehend the pathogenesis of selected ciliopathies, and contribute to development of their therapies.

The project and responsibilities

The selected applicant will lead a?project that aims to target ciliary signaling in glioblastoma, which is one of the deadliest cancers with very limited treatment options. The approaches used in the project will comprise mainly establishment of primary cultures, CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, cell and tissue imaging, and cell signaling experiments. Beyond the research tools and technology available in the lab and the hosting department, they will have access to the state-of-the-art instrumentation and services at the MUNI University campus core facilities. They will also participate in projects of other group members, including PhD and master students.

Qualifications:


	PhD degree in the field of cell biology or similar
	Significant, published experience with primary cilia research and/or cell signaling
	Hands-on experience with CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing is a?great advantage
	Ability to work independently allied with a?strong team spirit, scientific creativity, and motivation
	Good communication in English
