Universidad T¨¦cnica Nacional is a public university in Costa Rica. This university was established in 2008 with the aim of addressing the scientific, technical and technological developmental needs of Costa Rica.
The university offers courses in arts and humanities, agricultural sciences, administrative sciences, education, engineering and technology.
The university is spread across five campuses. The main campus lies in Alajuela, while the Pacific campus is in Puntarenas. The three other campuses are located in Atenas, Liberia, and San Carlos.
There are many student clubs that students can join were football, athletics and taekwondo.
It became the fifth public university in Costa Rica after merger of the University College of Alajuela, the University College of Puntarenas, the University College for Irrigation and Development of the Dry Tropics, the Central American School of Livestock, the Research and Improvement Center for Technical Education, and the Training Center for Trainers and Technical Personnel for the Industrial Development of Central America.
