The OfS is the statutory regulator for higher education in England. We do so by regulating the higher education providers on our register to make sure they are delivering high quality courses and positive outcomes for their students; where they are not, we take action. ?

The higher education sector in England is complex and diverse and the OfS’s approach to regulation recognises this. Our new strategy signals a shift from an organisation in a start-up phase to an established regulator that understands its regulatory tools and how best to use them to shape incentives across the sector we regulate. We work to ensure that students in England enjoy higher education provision that is high quality; that their access to opportunity, success and progression is not limited by background, location or characteristics; and that providers are well and sustainably led.?

We are looking to fill a vital ‘Head of’ role within our Regulation directorate as part of our senior team.

These roles lead our frontline regulation with a broad remit. They have responsibility for a significant portfolio of work across equality, diversity and inclusion, skills and pathways, funding, student information and engagement and conditions of registration.?

The role we are recruiting to now has a particular focus on:?


	Pathways and skills policy, including the implementation of the LLE and managing and distributing OfS recurrent and capital funding to higher education providers ?


You will be people focused, committed to our mission of driving positive outcomes for students, and able to work at pace within complex and ambiguous environments. Regardless of the focus of your portfolio, you will be an experienced leader of people and able to demonstrate an ability to motivate, develop and deliver exceptional results through people across an organisation.?

You will be comfortable making complex risk-based decisions, often in novel circumstances, and will be able to quickly grasp the regulatory and legal frameworks under which the OfS carries out its duties. You will understand the role and value of a regulator and, regardless of your professional background, show an understanding of how effective regulation works in practice. Application Procedure

The Senior University Tutor plays an important role in the delivery of many of the University’s academic programmes and is appointed for the primary purpose of contributing to teaching within a clear and established teaching programme by providing tuition and/or demonstrations to groups of, usually undergraduate students, in specific aspects of the programme. The Senior University Tutor assists and supports students to further develop their understanding of key course topics and to draw out key learning points from course materials.

Salary

Senior University Tutor (2024): €56,744 – €63,876 p.a. (4 points)

About the area

The School of Biological Sciences is a large, multidisciplinary School with research and teaching focused on understanding and conserving life on Earth. Our researchers tackle challenges in the laboratory and at field sites across the world, studying plants and animals in both natural and managed environments using techniques ranging from molecular and genetic analysis to data collection from whole populations, communities and ecosystems to big-data synthesis science.

About the opportunity


	Design and test sampling methods for electrophysiological measurement of vibro-acoustic signal in sense organs on the antennae and legs
	Design of and conducting laboratory experiments to test vibration and acoustic signals
	Assist with preparation of results into reports to the funding agency
	Prepare results and write manuscripts for scientific journals


About you 


	PhD in neuroscience or related field
	Demonstrated experience electrophysiology
	Demonstrated ability to design and conduct laboratory research
	Demonstrated ability to publish in high impact scientific journals
	Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, work within budgets and report according to specifications

Residential Services at the University of Southampton offer accommodation to over 6000 students. In order to enhance and maintain the service offered to our diverse customers, we are recruiting for a domestic assistant position in Southampton.

The role will involve working individually or as a member of a team to deliver the cleaning of designated areas to ensure that they are kept in a safe, clean and hygienic condition. Some of the duties will include kitchen cleaning, sweeping, vacuuming and dusting. You should also be willing to undertake some manual handling, bending and reaching as part of your normal duties.

The successful candidate will have a flexible and enthusiastic approach to work and enjoy working as part of a diverse and dynamic team. Communication skills and attention to detail is essential as this is a customer focused environment where we strive to provide the best service to our residents.

The post available is for 20 hours per week Monday to Friday. Some weekend working will be required in the summer for open days, student arrivals and departure periods.
