Established in 2000, the Niger Delta University is a government-funded university located on Wilberforce Island.
It offers degree programmes across 12 faculties: agriculture, arts, basic medical sciences, clinical sciences, education, engineering, environmental sciences, law, management sciences, nursing, pharmacy, science, social sciences, and general studies.
There are three campuses at the Niger Delta University, the main campus and the college of health sciences campus, both located on Wilberforce Island, and a satellite campus housing the faculty of law in Yenagoa.
Students can pursue social, sporting and recreational activities during their free time at university. There are a range of facilities including sports centres, clubs, societies, a student viewing centre, museum, theatre and shops. Throughout the week, the university organises a range of cultural and sporting performances too.
