Maqsut Narikbayev KAZGUU University, founded in 1994, is a leading private higher education institution located in Kazakhstan’s capital, Astana.
The university is named after Maqsut Narikbayev, a lawyer and figure in Kazakhstan’s Supreme Court. Its main campus sits in the Yesil District in the southern part of Astana, on the banks of the River Ishim.
Considering it’s namesake, it is no surprise the university places a strong emphasis on law, business and social science programmes. It offers a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes, and is comprised of five schools. These are: the School of Liberal Arts, the International School of Economics, the International School of Journalism, KAZGUU Business School and the renowned KAZGUU Law School.
It offers courses in a range of languages, and most courses are taught bilingually in Kazakh and English.
The university offers modern academic and non-academic facilities, including a gym, sports centre, libraries, music rooms, IT rooms, co-working spaces, on campus-living areas and canteens. The student-elected student council oversees clubs and societies, as well as events and festivals.
