The Discipline of Business Analytics is a group of scholars working in the intersection of such quantitative fields as Econometrics and Statistics, Computer Science and Machine Learning, and Operations Research and Operations Management. We are engaged in all aspects of analysing data and building predictive and causal models to assist in business decision-making. The Discipline has research strengths in such areas as Bayesian and computational statistics, business and economic forecasting, financial and nonparametric econometrics, high-dimensional statistics, mathematical optimisation, quantitative risk management, scheduling theory, statistical machine learning, and supply chain management.

Teaching and Research Opportunities

The aims of these teaching and research roles are to attract and retain the best and brightest emerging academics. To support an uplift in the teaching and research capability and student experience at the University of Sydney, these positions are for talented researchers who also have a passion for, and demonstrated excellence in, pedagogical practice.

You will have the opportunity to make a significant contribution to teaching and learning design, delivery, and evaluation in your specialised field while you also continue to build substantial research contribution, expertise, connections and impact. As part of this role, you will also contribute to the governance, leadership, and engagement work of your employing school.

Successful candidates are expected to allocate their contributions as follows: 40% to teaching and related activities, 40% to research, and 20% to governance, leadership, and engagement.

Your key responsibilities will be to:


	contribute to existing and emerging research strengths of the School, including regular publication in journals of high standing within your discipline or area of expertise, pursuing research grants, and presenting and disseminating research findings through appropriate channels
	design and engage in cutting-edge, innovative and high-quality teaching and learning at the undergraduate and postgraduate level to large and culturally diverse student cohorts, according to the University's expectations and standards for education, delivering outstanding teaching and learning outcomes for students
	be involved in interdisciplinary collaborations within the University and with external partners
	contribute to academic governance, leadership, and engagement work in your school
	supervise research students
	maintain relevant Work, Health and Safety requirements
	develop and refine your research skills.

About you

	a PhD or nearly completed PhD in Econometrics, Statistics or a related field
	an active research program with significant potential for future publications in field of specialisation
	evidence of high-quality teaching potential in field of specialisation and interest in or potential for teaching in interdisciplinary teams
	demonstrated capacity to stimulate, actively engage and educate a range of audiences using various media
	capacity to contribute to curriculum development
	potential for engagement and collaboration with partners from industry and government
	evidence of successful teamwork and a collegial approach.

Job Purpose

The responsibilities of faculty members shall be an appropriate combination of:

a) Dissemination of knowledge through undergraduate and / or graduate teaching; and
b) Research, scholarly or other creative activities; and
c) University, community and proferssional services

Operational Responsibilities

Teaching:


	Teach at undergraduate and graduate level in subject areas and on time schedules allocated by the Chair of Department
	Prepare teaching material including course outline, syllabus and lesson plans. Revise the subject matter on a regular basis as appropriate for that subject
	Contribute to the development, planning and implementation of a high quality curriculum
	Provide students with detailed syllabus, methods of instruction and evaluation in their courses
	Engage in the selection of textbooks and other teaching aids necessary to the instruction of courses
	Monitor students’ performance in their subject areas and provides remedial classes when necessary
	Set and mark exams, coursework, assignments, laboratory work, homework, and any other relevant activity
	Use up-to-date instructional technology and ensure the delivery is clear and consistent
	Supervise students’ research and practical work and of their theses preparation, as well as participate in evaluation of their theses
	Participate in professional peer reviews
	Supervise teaching internships
	Develop and improve their scholarly competence and effectiveness as teachers within their area of expertise


Research, Scholarly and Creative Activities:


	Carry out research and produces publications, or other research outputs, in line with personal objectives agreed in the review process
	Engage in scholarly or creative activities in their area of expertise and makes results available for critical peer review
	Deliver papers at professional association meetings, seminars and conferences
	Participate in panels at regional and international meetings of professional organizations
	Identify and successfully bid for external funding and grants
	Actively raise the Department and Faculty’s profile, internally and externally

QUALIFICATIONS

Assistant Professor: Ph.D. + A minimum of 2 years of experience relevant to the position and proven research potential.

Associate Professor: Ph.D. + A minimum of 8 years of experience relevant to the position, out of which at least 5 years should be at the level of Assistant Professor.

Professor: Ph.D. + A minimum of 10 years of experience relevant to the position, out of which at least 5 years should be at the level of Associate Professor

We are looking to recruit a Teaching Fellow to join our committed and enthusiastic team of anatomists in our goal to provide the highest quality student experience.?

The University of Southampton is a global centre for excellence in research and education and a founding member of the Russell Group. The Centre for Learning Anatomical Sciences (CLAS) is part of the Medical Education group, in the Faculty of Medicine.?We are located at Southampton General Hospital where we benefit from?a resource-rich creative environment and the close proximity of our clinical colleagues.

Our principal role is to develop and deliver human anatomy teaching and learning for undergraduates. Teaching areas include gross anatomy, microanatomy, developmental anatomy and neuroanatomy. Members of academic staff also have curriculum management and development roles in the Faculty and wider University.

In this role, you will focus initially on teaching anatomy to undergraduate medical students studying on the BMBS programmes. Your teaching contributions will include practical sessions, workshops and lectures and you will take a leadership role in the delivery of areas of provision e.g. cardiopulmonary etc. You will contribute to the setting and marking of assessments and the analysis and evaluation of anatomy teaching. There will be opportunities to develop and deliver innovative teaching and learning approaches in anatomy and you may contribute to courses for a range of postgraduate professionals including surgeons, anaesthetists and other health professionals. In addition, there will be opportunities to undertake leadership, management and engagement activities within the Faculty.?

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic medical/anatomy/science undergraduate degree or equivalent professional qualifications and experience in a related area. The successful candidate would have a detailed understanding and knowledge of anatomy and experience teaching anatomy within higher education. Experience teaching medical students would be desirable. ?
