J. F. Oberlin University’s creed is the ideal of “Gakujijijin”: learning in order to be able to help others.
J. F. Oberlin University has approximately 10,000 students, including graduate students and students from overseas. Every year we have about 850 foreign students enrolled at the university. We have over 170 partner schools in more than 30 countries and regions around the world. Our students acquire practical experience through a variety of programs, including not only language study and academic exchange programs but also volunteer programs and internship opportunities. The university has established five overseas offices to carry out various activities in international exchange and to support students studying abroad.
Our main campus is in Machida, a suburb of Tokyo, and we have three branch campuses: Shinjuku and Sendagaya in the center of Tokyo, Fuchinobe Station in the city of Sagamihara, Kanagawa Prefecture. In addition we have research facilities off campus with lodging accommodations at Tama Academy Hills and Izu Kogen Club.

Summer Session is a four-week intensive program in the center of Tokyo. Courses include two business courses, two cultural courses and two Japanese language courses, all of which are developed from courses that are already part of JFOU`s regular curriculum.
The program offers Japanese language skills and training courses from the introductory to advanced levels. A wide variety of culture and civilization courses on Japan taught in English are also offered each semester.

We maintain two international dormitories, where students from many countries around the world live together with Japanese students.
