The College of Business Education was launched with 25 students in 1965 in Dar-es-Salaam.?
It has subsequently expanded to other major centres in Tanzania, including Dodoma, Mwanza on Lake Victoria and Mbeya in the South-West Highlands.?
The majority of students study in Dar-es-Salaam.
Students are spread across departments of accounting, accounting and finance, accounting and tax, banking and finance, business administration, information technology, marketing, and procurement and supply management who between them offer 68 programmes ranging from certificate level through to doctoral programmes.
A 2023 Tracer survey of 2022 Graduates found that close to 80 per cent were using their skills in employment, with around 60 per cent in public or private enterprises and the rest self-employed. In 2024 it was asked by the Tanzanian government to research means of improving products and enhancing national competitiveness.
