Alt?nba? University is a young and dynamic non-profit university founded by the philanthropic Mehmet Alt?nba? Education and Culture Foundation in 2008.
It was established with the aim of taking its place among the leading universities in Turkey and beyond with an academic staff – mostly graduates of prestigious US or European PhD programmes – that is capable of and committed to undertaking research and providing education at an international level.
Alt?nba? University provides its students with the opportunity to become productive, investigative and intellectual individuals as well as global citizens, who are respectful of human rights and individual freedoms, with a sense of social responsibility and endowed with intercultural skills.
The university offers 23 undergraduate programmes in eight schools: engineering and architecture; fine arts and design; economics and administrative sciences; law; arts and sciences; pharmacy; medicine; and dentistry. Six graduate programmes and two doctoral degrees are offered in three graduate schools: science and engineering; social sciences; and health sciences. Nine programmes are offered in the Health Services Vocational School while six programmes are offered in the Vocational School.
As a university in a country that is engaged in negotiations with the European Union for full membership, the university is committed to educating future Turkish EU experts and contributing to the public debate on European integration and Turkey-EU relations. The university has stepped up efforts to encourage its staff to apply for EU-funded projects, of which the application for a Jean Monnet Module is but one example.
Alt?nba? University is continuously engaged in developing a more strategic partnership with the Turkish Ministry for EU Affairs as well as the local governor’s office, which has carried out the highest number of EU projects of any local governor’s office in Turkey.
