A former student lost his libel case against Bristol University this week when he could not produce a Pounds 25,000 security against future legal costs. Francis Foecke, 38, has battled against Bristol for ten years after it accused him of cheating in his finals. He was awarded a pass degree instead of the first-class honours his answers merited. His libel claim failed in 1994 when the High Court ruled that the courts had no power to hear the case. This week he lost his appeal but Mr Foecke says he will fight on.
