One in ten of London's homeless living in hostels are graduates, according to a survey by The St Mungo Community Housing Association. The survey of 224 hostel residents aged over 21 found that the unemployment rate among the graduates was 55 per cent. The main reasons they gave for this was the shortage of jobs and the fear of losing their social security payments. One third of those surveyed had some sort of vocational qualifications.
