American Anthropological Association. The 1996 Distinguished Service Award was presented to Barbara Harrell-Bond, director and founder of the refugee studies programme, University of Oxford, in recognition of her commitment to one of the major human rights challenges.
The Misha Black Medal for 1997 has been awarded to Alexander Moulton, author of the Engineering Design Education report for the council, director (and past chairman) of the Smallpeice Trust, founder of Moulton Developments Ltd. and Moulton Bicycles Ltd, fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and elected master of the Faculty of Royal Designers for Industry (1981-83).
