Tokyo Keizai University, also referred to as the Tokyo University of Economics, is a private university located in Tokyo, Japan.
The university was initially founded in 1900 and was previously named Okura Commerce School. It became Tokyo Keizai University in 1949, after a few name changes.
It offers undergraduate and graduate courses in management and economics. Students can take a number of different courses within these disciplines ranging from marketing and distribution to communication studies and contemporary law.
Tokyo Keizai University is recognised for its extensive industry-related collaborations. The university also has partnerships with academic institutions across the world such as the University of International Business and Economics (Shanghai), Pace University (New York), National University of Malaysia, University of Western Sydney, (Australia) Foreign Trade University (Vietnam) and many more.
The university is also renowned for its partnerships and collaborations with corporations and leading universities in Japan to develop its research output and areas.
Much of the teaching is undertaken in Japanese and international students are required to take both English and Japanese proficiency tests before enrollment.
Tokyo Keizai University has a large campus with separate dormitories, cafeterias, halls and student welfare centres for international students.
There is a wide range of student clubs which organise curricular and extra-curricular activities. In addition to this, a festival known as “Aoi Sai” is celebrated every year as a university tradition to commemorate the establishment of its initial school, the Okura Commerce School. There are also a number of cultural and athletic clubs that students can get involved with.
