对于 Saint Peter's University
One of 28 Jesuit higher education institutions in the United States, Saint Peter’s University was established in 1872 and this private, coeducational university is located in Jersey City, New Jersey.
It was originally established as a male-only college and the student population was made up of both high school and college level men. Eventually the college and the high school separated, despite remaining in the same building, and became Saint Peter’s College and Saint Peter’s High School.
The effect of the Second World War caused the college to close between 1918 and 1930, reopening in downtown Jersey City and admitting women for the first time.
Six years later it moved to its current location, a 25-acre campus in the heart of Jersey City and home to the vast majority of the university facilities and residence halls. Another campus, known as Englewood Cliffs Campus, was opened in 1975 and is linked to the main campus by a pedestrian bridge that was constructed in 2004.
The Englewood Cliffs Campus houses a lot of the graduate programs available at Saint Peter’s University while the main campus has five major instructional buildings. This is also where the university athletics teams are based, most of who train and play in the Yanitelli Recreational Life Center and the Joseph J. Jaroschak Field.
The university sports teams, known as the Peacocks, compete in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and the NCAA Division I, and over the years the Peacocks’ men’s and women’s basketball teams have won have won a host of championships.
