对于 Newman University
Newman University was founded by the Adorers of the Blood of Christ, a Christian sisterhood originating in Italy. In 1902, the Sisters opened St John’s Institute, a girl’s boarding school in Wichita, Kansas. A boy’s school was added to the property the following year. The institute complex became the centre of what is now the Newman University campus.
In 1933 the institute became a teaching school and a Junior College. It was renamed after Cardinal John Newman, a 19th century priest and advocate of liberal arts education.
The university offers bachelor’s, associate, pre-professional and graduate programmes across a broad spectrum of subjects. Courses include accounting, counselling, forensic science, journalism, music, law and sonography, to name just a small selection.
The Adorers of the Blood of Christ continue to sponsor Newman University, which upholds their Catholic values. The campus ministry runs mass, midday prayers and confessions.
Student organisations at Newman include the board games club, swing dancing, Ultimate Frisbee and psychology. The campus activities board organises extracurricular events for all students, from casual movie nights to major annual events like the 成人VR视频coming week.
Wichita is the largest city in Kansas and one of the biggest cultural hubs in the state. Newman University’s main campus gives easy access to the city’s museums, galleries and historical sites. Several major festivals take place in Wichita each year, including the River Festival, Black Arts festival and Tallgrass Film festival. The university also runs outreach sites in Southeast Kansas, Western Kansas, Colorado Springs, Colorado and Tulsa and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
