In the philosophy unit of assessment, the University of Birmingham climbed from second in 2014 to top this time, with a GPA of 3.5, up from 3.3. The University of York went from 28th in 2014 to second this time, with a big improvement in GPA – from 2.74 to 3.49.?
Another big climber was the University of Kent, which was joint 30th?in 2014 but fifth this time. Its GPA improved from 2.72 to 3.43. The University of Oxford, top in 2014, was 19th?this time after its GPA fell from 3.31 to 3.14. King’s College London dropped from third to 13th?despite marginally improving its GPA from 3.23 to 3.27.?
At a national level the Philosophy UoA has a GPA of 3.19, with 40 per cent of its submission rated 4*. 692.00 FTE staff were submitted to this UoA.
